Book Description Soft cover. Condition: Fine. 1st Edition. George Rodger, one of the founding members of Magnum Photos, first went to Africa in 1941, recording the freedom struggle against Italian and German fascism, returning in 1947, to 'cleanse' himself of what he had witnessed as a war photographer in Europe, including the liberation of Belsen. This small (28pp) and extremely rare catalogue was published to accompany an exhibition of Rodger's African photographs that toured venues in Africa, organised by Magnum and the British Council in 1997. It is in excellent condition. An informative essay by Bruce Bernard includes interesting photographs of Rodger in the field and 7 works are reproduced, along with the complete captions by Bernard of all the works in the exhibition.
