Taken from Chapter 7: The dromedary The dromedary is a single-humped camel. Scientists estimate that there are about 14 million camels wandering the earth, and of those, nine out of every ten are dromedaries! Six out of every ten dromedaries live in Africa. The dromedary has been extinct in the wild for about 2000 years, but we do not think of it as extinct because we see it so often in zoos, circuses, and movies.
Another excellent book that belongs to the Endangered animal series. It is easy to read, factual, informative. Great for independent study and interest reading -- School Librarians' Book Reviews, May 1993
The attractive layout with an easy-to-read vocabulary level makes these book appealing to a wide audience. The interesting informative text with the accompanying glossary and index adds to the usefulness of these books as school research resources -- CM, Sept. 1993
