Taken from Chapter 8: Swan All swans live on or near the water. You can see mute swans floating on ponds and lakes in city parks. They are quiet birds but will hiss as a warning. Their wings make a loud, whirring noise when they fly. Whistling swans, also called wild swans, live in the far north of Canada. Each autumn, they migrate south. You can hear their hooting call high in the sky.
