The cave system is called Mammoth Cave because of its enormous size. It is now part of a national park. Mammoth Cave is the longest system of caves in the world, with a total mapped length of 560 kilometers (347 miles). Some caverns are as big as New York's Grand Central Station! Cave crickets, blindfish, and blind crayfish all live here.
