About the Author:
Elery Hamilton-Smith is adjunct professor in the postgraduate program in cave and karst management at Charles Stuart University. He also chairs the IUCN/WCPA Task Force on Cave and Karst Protection and advises on World Heritage karst sites. Brian Finlayson is associate professor of geography; head of the School of Anthropology, Geography, and Environmental Studies; and director of the Centre for Environmental Applied Hydrology, all at the University of Melbourne. He is a member of the World Commission on Protected Areas, IUCN.
