About the Author

Rowena Reed was on the history faculty at Dartmouth College and the author, with Michael Mullins, of A Union Bookshelf: Selected Civil War Bibliography. A professor of history at State University of New York at Buffalo, John D. Milligan is the author of Gunboats down the Mississippi.
