Children of Strangers: Stories
by Anthony Bukoski
The second collection of stories by teacher/writer Anthony Bukoski. These heart gripping fourteen short stories mainly take place within Polish American communities of Superior.
"Bukoski's highly original collection of stories is as soulful a book as I've encountered in years. The great gentleness with which he writes becomes his power."
STUART DYBEK
"A writer of many narrative voices, Bukoski evokes through them a place and its people about which too little has been said in our literature. Rank him with the best of the new ethnic writers."
SHIRLEY ANN GRAU
"Bukoski's evocation and investigation of the Catholic Polish American community of the Great Lakes area is alive with story. His characters often tell themselves their story because it is so crucial to them that they--these tough men with cracked lips, these women suffocated into silence--speak."
FREDERICK BUSCH
"Nobody else, to the best of my knowledge, has yet written with such empathy and depth of understanding about this place and the people in it."
GEORGE GARRETT
"Tony Bukoski is the ultimate chronicler of the Polish American experience."
