Sid Evans devotes roughly equal space to pieces on the biology of trout, fishing tactics (including interesting notes on night casting), fly-tying, and rod-and-reel casting. The contributors include Thomas McGuane, Lee Wulff, Ted Trueblood, Art Lee, A. J. McClane, and Jason Lucas, whose 1964 article on the merits of catch and release is one of the earliest in the literature.
