Tells how to plan inexpensive weekend vacations, explains ways to save money on travel and accomodations, and lists sources of information about travel involving specific vacation activities

In line with the popularity of weekend getaways and mini-vacations, Fischer has prepared this directory of activities, resources, and discounts. While his concept is good, the book's usefulness is limited. The "deals" described change so rapidly that many are out of date already. Although Fischer lists such activities/hobbies as canoeing, chess, nudist resorts, etc., he ignores other truly popular pastimes like wine tasting and food festivals. Most of the resource information can be found elsewhere. Since the book is well organized, libraries serving interested travelers may wish to consider. Not essential, however.
