Reviews

A registered dietician and a former consultant to the posh La Costa spa, Quillin offers general readers practical advice on how to combat the effects of toxins in the food and water supply. He tells how to minimize one's intake of toxins, how to choose foods which have been shown to increase the body's tolerance for toxins, which vitamins and minerals can be effective, and (the weakest section) how mental attitude and exercise can help. Though reasonably well researched, the writing is uneven, and Quillin is sometimes given to inappropriate speculation--aflatoxins may be carcinogenic, but it's outrageous to claim that they "could" have caused the tragic deaths in Jimmy Carter's family, for example. Strictly for large public libraries with heavy subject demand.
