Where are today's international students going and how are they selecting their destinations? In this book, the fifth in a series of Global Education Research Reports published by the Institute of International Education and the AIFS Foundation, Caroline Macready and Clive Tucker describe and analyze current information on how and why students choose their study abroad destinations, and the ways in which national policies in a variety of host and sending countries impact students decisions. About the Author:
Caroline Macready is an education consultant with her own company, Caroline Macready Consulting Ltd. She has worked on several education projects for OECD and the World Bank, including published reviews of Higher Education in Kazakhstan and Tertiary Education in Chile, for which she was Rapporteur; an international seminar on school improvement in Brasilia; and forthcoming reports on competitiveness and human capital development in Central Asia and Eastern Europe. From 1995 to 2006, Caroline was a Deputy Director in England's Department for Education and Employment.
Clive Tucker was the International Director of both the UK Department of Education and Skills and the UK Department for Work and Pensions until 2006. In that capacity he was responsible for the international aspects of UK policies on education and employment. Tucker was Chairman of the Employment Committee of the European Union from 2001 to 2003, and a member of the UK Fulbright Commission from 1998 until 2006. Since 2006 he has worked as an international education consultant advising a wide range of organizations. He is an Associate Director of the UK Specialist Schools and Academies Trust.
