After surviving a building project, the author offers advice on problems and pitfalls. Her book covers planning, the bond issue, construction, and completion of the project. Essays printed in other sources are randomly placed, disconcerting the reader. Floor plans from various U.S. libraries are included but not one from Hagloch's library. Although well intended, the resulting volume is a hodgepodge of ideas, offering minimal help to readers. The binding fell apart the first time this reviewer read through the book; the text also suffers from typos. Two better publications are Nolan Lushington and James Kusack's The Design and Evaluation of Public Library Buildings (Professional Reading, LJ 6/15/91) and Raymond Holt's Wisconsin Library Building Project Handbook, 2d rev. ed. (Professional Reading, LJ 5/15/90).
