This anniversary work reminds the reader of the rich tradition of Deer & Deer Hunting magazine and its position in the sport. It goes well beyond providing just a rehash of the history of the magazine-founded in 1977 by two members of the "Stump Sitters" deer camp-by actually portraying an environmentalist personality. It is thus much more balanced and complicated than the average nonhunter would expect. This hardcover tribute to the magazine's quarter century is divided into five sections (or eras) and provides the reader with many amazing outdoor photographs, as well as a tremendous collection of articles associated with whitetail deer hunting. These range from a history of the American deer drive to a pictorial essay on buckfights to Charles J.
