Synopsis
Josefina Javelina longs to be a ballerina. So.she packs up her concertina and leaves her favorite little cantina to go to Pasadena to visit her cousin Angelina. About the Author
SUSAN LOWELL is a fourth generation Arizonan, descended from a long line of prospectors, explorers, ranchers, farmers, and schoolmarms. She began writing as a child and has never stopped since. Susan says, "I do not believe that anything I can do in life is more important than encouraging children to read." Today she is the author of many wonderful books for children and adults, including The Three Little Javelinas published by Rising Moon.
BRUCE MACPHERSON has been sharpening pencils and bleeding markers dry since before the millennium. He has done many illustrations for magazines, newspapers, and games, but this is his first kid’s book. Bruce agrees with Josefina that it’s always good to "do something new." He lives in Vienna, Virginia, outside of D.C., with his wife and three big kids.

Grade 1-3–In this sequel to The Three Javelinas (Rising Moon, 1992), Josefina dreams of being a ballerina, so she sets off for Pasadena (right next to Hollywood!). At the talent agency, she meets White E. Lamb who, it turns out, is a coyote. During the ensuing chase, she impresses everyone with her fancy footwork and she is famous, starring as the Sugar Plum Hairy in the Nutcracker. The art is delightfully clever, and the cartoon animals are funny. However, the text is sophisticated and filled with swine and pig puns and tongue-in-cheek references to famous Hollywood actors and performers, such as Frank Swineatra and Hairilyn Monroe, that will be lost on a young audience.–Polly L.
