Each of us has the potential to become a truly great mentor to share the gifts of our experience, of our knowledge, of our souls. But how can we best bring these gifts to our students, our children, and our communities? How can we discover, develop, and improve our skills as leaders and spiritual guides?
Combining a rich knowledge of sacred texts with a wealth of experience as a rabbi, parent, and teacher, Rabbi Bradley Artson provides us with a road map to becoming effective mentors. With a wealth of suggestions both practical and poignant Rabbi Artson shows us how to:
Filled with profound wisdom, spiritual guidance, and life lessons, Gift of Soul, Gift of Wisdom is a powerful learning tool for all of us: rabbis and cantors, managers and executives, educators and parents who wish to understand the essence of what it takes to be a mentor and leader.

"Rabbi Artson's book will both touch readers deeply and educate them greatly. Jewish tradition teaches that `words that come from the heart enter the heart.' And so it is with this book."
Dr. Deborah Lipstadt

"A remarkable guide to mentoring. Rabbi Artson shows each of us how personal and professional challenges can be transformed into sources of growth, and how each of us can help others develop into strong leaders. He reminds us of Judaism's emphasis on engaging with others and making a difference in our ever-changing world."
Ruth Messinger

To become someone's mentor is among the most valuable of gifts. Many advice books tell us to seek out mentors in our personal and professional lives. But few of us have been taught how to be mentors. How can we learn? How can we sharpen our skills? How can we bring the most of ourselves and the most of our experiences to this crucial task?
In this wide-ranging and personal book, Rabbi Bradley Artson demonstrates how each of us can be a mentor. Rabbis and cantors, managers and executives, educators and parents--we all have the potential to give the gift of our experience, the gift of our knowledge, the gift of our souls.
But what makes a truly great mentor? Is it pure knowledge? Is it life experience? Yes, Rabbi Artson argues, but also much more. Drawing from sacred texts that have inspired and enriched his own spirituality, Rabbi Artson offers a road map of how to become an effective spiritual guide and mentor.
In this book, you will find suggestions both practical and poignant of ways to offer yourself as a guide and leader for others, such as:
How to reach out with affection
How to enhance your communication skills
How to open your life to those around you
How to overcome challenges that arise in the mentoring relationship
Filled with profound wisdom, spiritual guidance, and life lessons, Gift of Soul, Gift of Wisdom is an engaging, exceptional, and wise learning tool for all who wish to understand the very crux of what it takes to be a mentor and leader.
