Cloth, small 8vo, xii, 271 pp. Approximately 1,300 entries. A separate volume which bibliographically describes bibliographies of bibliographies (including national, personal, universal, and select universal bibliographies). Also covered are bibliographies on the subjects of library science, reference books, anonymous writings, condemned books, unfinished books, erotica, forged books, etc. The entries are extracted from the 5 volumes of Besterman's monumental "A world bibliography of bibliographies and of bibliographical catalogues, calendars, abstracts, digests, indexes, and the like" (4th and best edition). The coverage is geographically very wide-ranging, and includes both separately published books and monographs and serial publications (though not bibliographies appearing in periodicals). Classified arrangement (an author index would have been valuable). Besterman's indication of the approximate number of entries contained in each work is particularly useful. Hardcover. Condition: Fine. 12mo (19.5 cm), XIV, 271 pp. Publisher's cloth, gilt-lettered spine (bookplate). The fourth edition of Theodore Besterman's "A World Bibliography of Bibliographies" was published in 1965-66. It's a monumental edition which contains 6664 columns. Rowman and Littlefield in 18 separate publications gathered all the titles in some of the major fields. The volume on bibliography, library science and reference books includes approximately 1,000 entries. Seller Inventory # 007490
