This collection of tales from the Southwest includes stories from Mexican-American, Cajun, Ozarkian and other traditions. The Youngs give the stories spirited, fast-paced readings. Their voices are filled with suspense as the plots of the stories are quickly developed, but there are also touches of humor which is characteristic of scary tales from the oral tradition. The stories are scary--but not too scary--so that this audio presentation is satisfactory fare for middle graders to adults. C.R.A. (c)AudioFile, Portland, Maine
