McMains covers obedience training from preparation through all types of competition and offers a wealth of practical advice, including information on the whys and why nots and record keeping. Although the writing is wordy and occasionally repetitious, it is also casual and humorous. Each chapter ends with a motivational quote reflecting the author's philosophical approach to the care and training of dogs.
