Fully illustrated oversize, hardcover book of the Philadelphia Museum of Art exhibition of Barbara Chase-Riboud's work. Exhibited on September 14, 2013-January 20, 2014. Book contains 120 oversize pages with Illustrations and photos in color and black ink over beige. Notes from the Foreword: Though a Philadelphia native, the artist lived abroad, mostly in Paris since 1960. She has also been celebrated as a novelist and poet, though she was first a sculptor, and has continued to work as one throughout her career. The is the principal focus of the exhibition is to catalogue the body of work in sculptures that she created in memory of Malcom X, along with other sculptures and a selection of her drawings. Much of the work is created from bronze and textile, both abstract in form and detail with an anthropomorphic presence.
