Pp. xviii, 480; 80 plates and maps after drawings by the author and by William Blake (some plates and maps are folding). Quarter blue cloth with printed paper label over marbled boards, housed in a cloth-backed slipcase with matching marbled sides, 4to (11 x 8.5 inches). Limited to 1950 copies signed by the editor on the limitation page. This finely illustrated two volume set describes the slave rebellion in Dutch New Guinea from 1772-1777. Stedman's narrative also depicts the natural history of the area with many engraving devoted to nature topics. No ownership marks.
