The discus has for many years been considered among dedicated hobbyists as “the” fish. To many of them, it is king of aquarium fishes; to all, it is a challenge. The author discusses what he and other experts have learned about the various discus fishes. He tells how they taste, where they are to be found and how they are collected, as well as provides information on how to identify them and the color varieties in which they occur. There are also reports from various hobbyists about their experiences and observations in maintaining and breeding discus.
