Coeditors of Visiting Emily: Poems Inspired by the Life and Work of Emily Dickinson (Iowa 2000), winner of the 2001 Minnesota Book Award, Sheila Coghill and Thom Tam maro both teach at Minnesota State University Moorhead. Coghill is professor of English and former chair of the English department, where she teaches a senior capstone course in Whitman and Dickinson. Tammaro is professor of multidisciplinary studies, the author of two poetry collections, and co-editor of three award-winning anthologies.
"Visiting Walt is a vivid reminder that poetry is nothing less than the greatest conversation ever held. No poet spoke more ardently to the future than Whitman, and here, he is answered by a democratic chorus of his descendants--a hundred of his children talking back to their looming, inescapable, fathomless father."
