The Luxembourg Income Study is a unique data base, to which any researcher can gain access, allowing cross-country comparisons using microdata at the individual and family level. Seven countries are at present in the data base. More are being added on a regular basis. This book describes the technical and methodological aspects of the LIS data base. It then uses LIS data to make cross-country comparisons of income distribution and redistribution, of income poverty, and of the relationship between age and income.
