About the Author:

Ann Vernon, Ph.D., is Professor Emeritus at the University of Northern Iowa in Cedar Falls where she served as Coordinator of the School and Mental Health Counseling programs for 23 years, in addition to maintaining a large private practice where she specialized in working with children, adolescents, and their parents. Dr. Vernon has published 15 books and numerous chapters and articles on counseling techniques with youth, and in particular, applications of Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy in individual and small group counseling as well as classroom guidance. Dr. Vernon is considered one of the leading experts on REBT with children and has presented workshops on this topic, as well as other topics related to counseling children, throughout the United States, Canada, Australia, and South America.
