This lavish book covers much the same type of material as Martha Stewart's Entertaining ( LJ 12/15/82). The illustrations, however, do not have the simplicity and freshness of those of the Stewart book. The volume is divided into four parts: a description of ``theme'' and holiday parties; a detailed section on party planning and organizing; menus and recipes that accompany the parties described in the first segment; and a final part dealing with flowers. Unfortunately, some of the recipes leave out important steps or specifics. However, the final section includes a useful, lengthy flower chart, as well as excellent advice and ideas on arranging and working with flowers, and there are practical ideas and handy charts throughout the book.
