Synopsis

The Rough Riders' charge up San Juan Hill on July 1, 1898 remains the most indelible image of the Spanish-American War---the "splendid little war" that thrust Theodore Roosevelt into the national spotlight and the White House. Published in conjunction with the epic Turner Network Television miniseries starring Tom Berenger, Sam Elliott, and Gary Busey, this edition of The Rough Riders expands Roosevelt's classic account of his military exploits in the jungles of Cuba with 160 striking period photographs and illustrations and much new material. Award-winning author Richard Bak contributes a lengthy prologue describing Roosevelt's life and times and several sidebars exploring significant aspects of America's first imperial war.
