About the Author:
Mary Lumijarvi Caraker is the granddaughter of Finnish immigrants who settled near Astoria, Oregon. After a childhood on the family farm, she attended Willamette University, the University of Oregon, and San Francisco State University. After teaching for a number of years and raising a family, she is now a freelance writer. She is the author of five science fiction novels, the autobiographical novelGrowing Up Soggy, Women of the Kalevala (published by North Star Press in 1996), and, most recently, Elina, Mistress of Laukko(published by North Star Press in 1997). She lives in San Francisco.
