From School Library Journal

PreS-K—Bright, bold colors and contrasting text will attract many young children to investigate the inviting illustrations in this counting board book. Each page depicts a large numeral, starting with one (one boy, two socks, three traffic lights) and going up to 20, after which it counts by 10s (30 fingers, 40 flowers) up to 100 before skipping to 1,000 (raindrops). The items illustrated range from the expected (four wheels) to the surprising (seven-pointed horse chestnut leaf, a detail that kids and their grown-ups alike may find amusing). Each page also features the proper number of items shown (e.g., 90 gum balls and 100 centipede legs), which will encourage another layer of active learning. VERDICT An attractive and fun addition for large board book collections.—Kristy Pasquariello, Wellesley Free Library, MA
