This book will increase the ability of new software developers working in UNIX or MS-DOS environments to create high-quality, bug-free code. Using Reznick's techniques will make programming easier and, as a result, will shorten the development cycle. All code samples listed in the book are included on the companion floppy. Tools for Code Management demonstrates the use of the MAKE program to coordinate the special rules and relationships among the modules of a project, including compiler options and linking options; MAKE is also used to include special libraries and support files and to install the finished program. Other demonstrations include revision control (to ensure that the current version of the code is being used); debuggers and code validation utilities (to identify faulty code); performance profilers (to identify which code modules should be optimized); and lint debugging software (to isolate bugs that result from operating system and hardware dependencies).
