Pierce provides an introductory essay emphasizing the practicality of a spirituality of everyday life; two essays--one by a computer programmer, the other by a priest--that identify a spirituality of work; a series of 15 essays by individuals with various vocations (e.g., administrator, volunteer, unemployed worker) that discuss the spirituality of each writer's own work; and a concluding essay that addresses how the church can support each person in the spirituality of his or her work. The broad scope of the book and the personal particularity of the essays will make the book meaningful to a wide variety of laypersons and clergy (especially Christians; others may draw their own useful analogies). Highly recommended for public and seminary libraries.
