Priming our audience is like priming an old pitcher pump. Before we can get water out of the pump, we first have to prime it. This sometimes requires a lot of effort, especially if it hasn't been used for a long time. The leather and the succor washer may be dry, if os they will need some soaking, to loosen them up. WHen they are wet, it only takes about a quart of water to prime the pump. If you follow the priming instructions and work the handle thake there's a fier, you'll draw out fresh clean water, all you can drink, and enough to wash from head to feet. Like priming the pump, our students and audience also need to be primed before we can get anything out of them. They need to be loosenned up a little. When it's dry and boring, nothing good comes out. But when we prime them we can draw out the very best in them.
