About the Author
Ellen Jackson grew up in Glendale, California, where her mother worked for Walt Disney Studios. Her childhood interests centered around reading. She has traveled in Europe and South America, including the Amazon jungle and the Galapagos Islands.
Reviews
Grade 2-3-Each of these small-format titles begins with a short section of general information about the month. The weather, holidays, animals that can be seen, and sports and activities that people in the Northern Hemisphere might be enjoying are addressed. One-page sections on the month's birthstone, flower, zodiac sign, and name origin follow. A spread introduces people born during that month. Each book concludes with a short story, myth, or folktale. The watercolor illustrations found on every page are static, and some of the portraits of famous individuals are a bit crude. These books offer a few facts for reports, but are additional purchases at best.
