9780881259247: Questions Christians Ask the Rabbi

Synopsis

Rabbi Isaacs answers well over 200 questions Christians ask him on his popular website, taking a concise but accessible, family-friendly approach on such topics as Jesus, the synagogue, Jewish beliefs, the Bible, holidays (including the Sabbath, Rosh Hashanah, Yom Kippur, Sukkot, Shemini Atzeret, Simchai Torah, Hanakkuh, Purin, Passover and Shavuot), life cycle events (circumcision, Pidyon HaBen, or the redemption of the firstborn, Bar/Bat Mitzvah, becoming Jewish, marriage, divorce, death and dying), dietary laws, Jews and the community, medical ethics, Jews and Christians, Jewish denominations and Israel. He takes on the tough questions (the Jewish view of euthanasia, excommunication, the doctrine of original sin) along with those non-Jews may have about etiquette while attending religious ceremonies. Reviews

Rabbi Isaacs divides his book into 24 categories of questions and answers, including such diverse yet relevant topics as Jesus, the synagogue, Jewish beliefs, the Bible, the Sabbath, high holy days and other holidays, life cycle, dietary laws, medical ethics, Israel, conversion, marriage and divorce, death and dying, and the Jewish denominations. The longest discussion is given over to the Bible and concerns topics that include Moses and Abraham, the Dead Sea Scrolls, King Solomon, Palestine, the 10 Lost Tribes, the 10 plagues, Lot's wife, and Jewish priesthood. This very informative book will interest both Jewish and Christian readers alike. George Cohen
