From Library Journal:
The ``winter concert'' takes place at Boston Symphony Hall, where two old acquaintances meet accidentally. At first scarcely recognizing each other, Celeste and Cabe gradually recall a moment of mutual attraction many decades gone. After they are thrown together by events in their island community of affluent retirees, they slowly, even reluctantly, discover that their feelings have survived. As their infatuation grows, the solitude each prefers is undermined. Cabe's musical ambition reasserts itself; Celeste admits the possibility of sharing her life again despite past disappointments. A special spring concert unites them in the full blooming of their affection. Sympathetic characterizations and believable plotting make this book's quiet affirmation of love's regenerative power as plausible as it is pleasant. For general fiction collections. Starr E. Smith, Georgetown Univ. Lib., Washington, D.C.
