About the Author:

Mark Highberger, a freelance writer and writing instructor, writes a weekly travel column that appears in many Oregon newspapers. He has contributed articles to magazines including Old West, American History, Gray's Sporting Journal, and Northwest Travel. He lives in the remote northeastern Oregon town of Wallowa.
