From the Author:
I wrote this book in 1974, just days before my 30th birthday. It was my first attempt at writing but thanks to a good editor and committed publishers it sold better than anything else to date! I remember when the kids looked at the finished book for the first time, they remarked, "How did they know we had a green bird?" Well, of course, the artist didn't know that but the cover ended up an uncanny reflection of our family anyway.
Times have changed since this was first issued. It was my suggestion that the woman doing dishes on the cover be shown in pants rather than a skirt. This was a new idea within Christian circles but Victor went along with the innovation. Now, a woman doing housework in a skirt is rare (although some denominations prefer it that way).
Yet, biblical principles never change and I found very little updating was needed when I released the digital version in 2011. What I wrote in 1974 was just as applicable as it had ever been and I have no doubt it will be just as accurate a hundred years from now
From the Back Cover:
"In the past I have read articles about how to raise kids and run a home that I feel sure were written by a fat bachelor in his mid-60's," writes the author.
Agree? Well, this one is different.
Elizabeth Baker is an average housewife ("If I were any more average, I would fade into the woodwork." She lives in a tiny community in East Texas with one husband, four kids, two dogs, and one cat. Her girlhood ambitions were to:
1. Amply fill a negligee all her life.
2. Run a perfect home without spot or flaw.
3. Be talented enough to write $1,000 worth or poetry in one afternoon.
4. Be strong enough to feed the hogs every morning before breakfast.
She confesses she has fulfilled only one of those goals: to amply fill a negligee. "In fact, I so amply fill everything I put on that I am now on a diet . . . .again!"
Humorous / Honest / Compelling / Completely Bible Based
Here is a book in which a woman can see herself ...and find God's answers for herself--answers she might be a long time stumbling across otherwise.
