The late John Traister authored more than 100 different books. In 1978, he launched a gun-trading and gunsmithing business in Bentonville, Virginia. It was during this time, while restoring obsolete firearms, that Traister first found the need for a reference such as Firearms Disassembly with Exploded Views. John Karns managed a sporting goods store for years, where he bought, sold and repaired millions of dollars worth of firearms and reloaded custom ammunition for customers. During the 1980s, he began applying his former art training to the firearms industry - disassembling all types of firearms and drawing exploded views of the various parts during the process. Dozens of these exploded views were published in the American Rifleman, American Gunsmith and other national publications.
