John Horton Conway is the John von Neumann Professor of Mathematics at Princeton University. A native of England, Conway received his PhD from Cambridge University and was professor of mathematics there until 1986 when he moved to Princeton. Conway is the discover of surreal numbers, and the inventory of the mathematical game of "Life." In 1969 he discovered the Conway group. John Horton Conway has earned many honors, including election as Fellow of the Royal Society of London.
