Synopsis

Great Basin National Park, located in eastern Nevada, established in 1986, protects a remnant ice field on Wheeler Peak, ancient bristlecone pine forests, and the decorated galleries of Lehman Cave.

About the Author
Michael L. Nicklas, raised in the Great Basin along the Wasach Range, studied forest ecology and wilderness management at the University of Idaho. A career employee of the National Park Service, Mike has served as a park naturalist at Rocky Mountain, Death Valley, and Grand Teton national parks, as well as four years at Great Basin.
