Rudolf Khametovich Nureyev (1938 1993) was a Soviet-born ballet dancer and choreographer. Nureyev is regarded by some as the greatest male ballet dancer of his generation. From the book's blurb Rudolf Nureyev's contribution to Canadian ballet through his frequent guest appearances each year since 1972 with the National Ballet of Canada is inestimable. He conceived and produced the highly acclaimed The Sleeping Beauty, which remains the most lavish production in this Company's repertoire and greatly facilitated the Company's international exposure. He first appeared with the National Ballet of Canada in the 1972-73 season during a twenty-week tour which covered every major city in the United States. Prior to this he devoted four weeks to working with the dancers in Toronto a period which proved to be invaluable to the entire Company and especially to soloists Frank Augustyn, Karen Kain, and Veronica Tennant, who all openly express their indebtedness to Nureyev. This large format book, 288 pages is in very-good condition in a very-good dust jacket that is now enclosed in a protective mylar wrap. There is a personal Christmas gift inscription on the first free endpaper. This large and heavy book may require additional postage. Seller Inventory # 2424b
