About the Authors

Jane L. Parpart is a professor of history, women's studies, and international studies, and coordinator of International Development Studies at Dalhousie University, Halifax, Canada.

M. Patricia Connelly is the author of a number of books on women, development and Africa. She is involved in research and teaching on social policy, economic restructuring, and gender.

V. Eudine Barriteau is a lecturer and head of the Center for Gender and Development Studies at the University of the West Indies, Barbados.
