This collection of essays is a tribute to Canada's most renowned classical actor by his theatrical colleagues on the occasion of his 75th birthday. Actors, writers, directors and friends all contribute their perspectives on the art, life and career of William Hutt. For more than four decades, William Hutt has portrayed compelling roles on the stage and film, in Canada, in the United Kingdom and in the United States. He has been associated with the Chichester Festival in England, the Stratford Company in the United States and, for many years, he has been a leading actor of the Stratford Festival in Canada. This book should give the reader an insight into the art and craft of the actor. The volume also includes a collection of photographs of William Hutt and many of his colleagues in the most important productions of his career. The contributors to this volume include: Timothy Findley, Barry MacGregor, James Blendick, Diana Leblanc, Christopher Newton, Michael Bartree, John Connell, Peter Moss, Mervyn Blake, Richard Monette, Barbara Budd and Keith Garebian. Keith Garebian is the author of "William Hutt: A Theatre Portrait", "A Well-Bred Muse: Selected Theatre Writings, 1978-1988" and "George Bernard Shaw and Christopher Newton: Explorations in Shavian Theatre".
