This is not a purchasing guide with product reviews; its purpose is to provide accurate, short, concise entries on how to shop for appliances; health and beauty products; electronic equipment; food; credit and other aspects of financial planning; automobiles and car care items; and home and gardening tools. Included are a few bibliographic references, a half-dozen recipes, names and addresses of U.S. government agencies and national organizations , and some 800 telephone numbers. Insights on health, diet, and household maintenance are also provided. This alphabetically arranged handbook is highly recommended for libraries serving consumers and those subscribing to Consumer Reports .
