About the Author

Linda Honold, Ph.D., is president and founder of Empowerment Systems, and a human resource development and organization consultant focusing on employee learning and organizational transformation. She is the former Coach for Member Development at Johnsonville Sausage, the company that was featured in Tom Peters's best-selling book Thriving on Chaos and his videotape The Leadership Alliance. Honold is a member of OD Network, Academy of Management, and American Society for Training and Development, and has been a keynote or featured presenter at numerous professional conferences.

From the Inside Flap

In today's turbulent and complex workplace, employees at all levels need to do more than be willing to learn: They need to embrace learning for all the opportunities it provides for personal growth and business performance. Companies whose employees love to learn have a strategic advantage in their ability to solve problems, innovate, respond to challenges, and seize opportunities.

This new book shows all organizations how to develop this strategic advantage by helping everyone in the company learn to use his or her talents to become more creative, responsive, efficient, and team oriented. Using a variety of cases and examples, learning expert Linda Honold explains how to lay the foundation for individual employee learning and develop activities, programs, and support systems that will generate continuous employee growth and development--and continuous business improvement.

This hands-on resource includes ninety practical tools and approaches that can be used in any organization to promote employee learning, including:
* Methods for developing interest in learning and self-knowledge
* Individual learning tools
* Mentoring, coaching, and peer learning approaches
* Strategies for individual learning in groups
* Methods for integrating learning with work

In addition, Honold offers leaders advice on promoting their own learning and on ensuring that their leadership style promotes the love of learning in employees. Offering trainers, human resource managers, and organization development staff a much-needed resource for promtoing ongoing learning at work, this invaluable guide is flexible enough to complement and complete training and career development programs that may already be in place.
