"Developing Employees Who Love to Learn provides a clear road map for creating successful learning in an organization. The tools and strategies Honold offers are invigorating and can make the organization heart beat faster. This book will help you. It should be read by everyone who is interested in transforming his or her organization by developing the talents of its people. This strategic resource will make your job easier by demonstrating how to use the tools of effective, work-based training. It is for any manager who believes in the power of human potential."--From the Foreword by Ralph Stayer, coauthor of "Flight of the Buffalo" and CEO of Johnsonville Sausage
In a rapidly changing business world, it is critical that every employee is dedicated to solving problems and to embracing change. Accomplishing this undertaking is no easy task. How does one even start? It is my belief that the best way is to get every employee to become a learner. Why? Because learning and change are synonymous. One cannot change without learning, one cannot learn without changing. Therefore employees who are learning will be more open to change.
This perspective comes from my 15 years experience working with organizations striving to be filled with learners. Learning cannot be something for managers alone. Success depends upon all employees becoming learners. Some employees initially may not want to be learners. They recall unpleasant experiences in high school and say 'no thank you' to opportunities presented. I have found, though, that when employees are able to learn at their own rate, about things that interest them, and in a manner that compliments their learning style, they get hooked on it.
Developing Employees Who Love to Learn is about creating a system and processes that lead to an organization filled with learners. The examples provided are taken from real organizations. It is my belief that if you implement these ideas, employees in your organization will indeed love to learn.
