From the Inside Flap

While being smart and good at what you do is essential to success in business, the research is clear: for C-level executives to frontline supervisors, emotional competencies are more important than training, IQ, and technical experience in determining who succeeds and who fails at work.

With a unique mix of commonsense advice, fresh insights, and real-life examples and stories--from L'Oreal and Bell Labs to the U.S. Air Force--this revised and expanded edition of WORKING RELATIONSHIPS gets to the very heart of what makes emotional intelligence (EQ) such a powerful tool for workplace success. The book includes

* Key communication strategies to expand your sphere of organizational influence and build a network of professional relationships that can be leveraged to get the work done

* Specific guidance on seeking feedback from coworkers, direct reports, and bosses, including examples of what to say, how to behave, and when to move from dialogue to action

* More than thirty focused exercises, including seven new exercises on EQ, plus numerous case studies and tools for dealing with challenging situations or jump-starting difficult conversations
