From the Inside Flap

Rethink, reinvent, and reposition human resources as a contributor to organizational success. With this clarion call, HUMAN RESOURCE TRANSFORMATION lays out what it will take to move HR from the end of the business process chain to its rightful position as the strategic leader in aligning talent with organizational goals.

From the authors of the groundbreaking STRATEGIC HUMAN RESOURCE LEADER, which introduced the concept of HR transformation, comes this detailed exploration of the key trends driving the need to recharter HR's role within today's organizations. With data culled from the authors' first-ever twenty-plus-year longitudinal study of how general managers view HR's focus and performance, combined with case study examples of organizations such as AT&T, IBM, and the U.S. Navy, it demonstrates the power of HR professionals to drive organizational change. The authors examine the various ways strategic decisions influence change, the critical role HR can play in addressing business and operational issues, and the new role of HR leadership, especially when facing the challenges of outsourcing. Copublished with the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM).
