Wildlife art has come to mean much more than just a painting of an animal. The wild 'life' in these paintings encompasses plants, animals, and a spiritual life sensed in the places artists go to gather ideas and reference material.... It is this love for the natural gifts we have been given, and increasingly the fear of losing the same, that is the unifying theme of all of these works of art.
About the Author
Rachel Rubin Wolf is a freelance writer and editor with a special interest in wildlife art and fine art. She has edited many North Light books including the Splash, Basic Techniques and Keys to Painting series; The Best of Portrait Painting; and The Best of Flower Painting 2. Wolf is the author of The Acrylic Painter's Book of Styles and Techniques; Painting Ships, Shores and the Sea; and Painting the Many Moods of Light. She is also a contributing writer for Wildlife Art Magazine. Wolf studied painting and drawing at the Philadelphia College of Art (now University of the Arts), as well as the Kansas City Art Institute and received her Bachelor of Fine Arts from Temple University in Philadelphia.
