Suspense is added to this plot by the rodeo-team tryouts at school, Betsy Jo's fear of water, and Crystal's uncertain romance with Shawn. Faith, prayer, and a blow-dryer help Crystal cope. Crystal's Solid Gold Discovery is a burlap bag buried in a pasture. This discovery leads Crystal and her father to foil a would-be swindler.
