About the Author

Jonathan N. Thigpen was born and raised in Nashville, Tennessee, where he earned his B.A. in Bible from Free Will Baptist Bible College. He held the Master of Religious Education degree from Temple Baptist Seminary in Chattanooga, Tennessee. He earned his Ph.D. at Trinity Evangelical Divinity School, Deerfield, Illinois.

Rev. Thigpen ministered in a variety of positions: youth worker, pastor, denominational publishing executive, college professor, curriculum writer and editor. During his Illinois years, he served as Advertising Manager for Christianity Today, Inc. for four years prior to his appointment as President of Evangelical Training Association of Wheaton, Illinois, 1992-2001. A dynamic and energetic communicator, Jonathan shared a passion for training and equipping others to effectively teach the Word of God. His ministry extended throughout the evangelical community through conventions and training workshops. He remained involved in Christian ministry until ALS took his life in May 2001.
