From Publishers Weekly:
This is the first part of a trilogy set in turn-of-the-century Scotland. Protagonist Jennie Hawthorne, an outspoken Englishwoman with a strong social conscience, falls in love with and marries Nigel Gilchrist. When she moves to his Highland family estate, she is dismayed to learn that he is evicting cottagers from the property to make way for sheep-grazing. The ending, PW wrote, "will whet readers' appetites for sequels and answers." December
